Whoa!  Talk about counter-space!  This huge kitchen island top was custom made for Laura and Alden in Tampa, FL.  They both wanted a central focus to build thier kitchen around that was not only functional, but beautiful as well.  Coming from history-rich Atlanta, GA, the couple had a great appreciation for the story behind the materials in thier home.  This 3" thick, 6 1/2' by 8 1/2' tide-water cypress counter is made from joists that were salvaged from one of the first churches built in the area.  Click on the drawing of the building below for more info on where the wood which makes up this great islnd top comes from!

Update - Alden and crew just sent in pictures of the new island top installed.  See the awesome photos at the bottom of the page!

To put the size in perspective, Shawn is 6'2" !
